Why should I sell my products through Costco?
Since Costco first opened its doors in 1983, it has become one of the top five retailers on the planet – a global phenomenon with over 800 stores worldwide, and revenue exceeding $237bn at the last count.
No wonder, then, that so many manufacturers, traders and resellers want to channel their products through Costco’s doors.
In response to that demand, Costco has evolved its own, unique procurement process, and we’re here to help you navigate it!
‘Costco’s philosophy is so simple. The lower the price on great quality merchandise, the more you’ll sell. If you sell huge quantities of merchandise at low prices, and if you run an efficient operation, your profits will be greater than retailers with high prices.’

Do you really need us? Can’t you just call Costco directly?
If only it were that easy!
In the 26 years since we’ve been helping vendors sell to Costco, we’ve worked with a number of business owners who have come to us after trying to contact Costco directly. It’s not that Costco doesn’t want to talk to them; it’s more to do with the fact that Costco has to filter out those sellers who don’t understand their ethos or process.
We’re here to guide you through the pitfalls and opportunities and we’ll help you to reach the right person as quickly and efficiently as possible.
‘We know what Costco wants and we communicate these needs to the manufacturer. By being keenly aware of the product category the manufacturer works in, what their capabilities are and what Costco’s attitudes are regarding the category, we bring value to the equation.’

What qualifies us to take on this role?
In short, we’ve succeeded because:
- We understand Costco’s culture, structure and unique process
- We know the people, so we find you the best route to the right buyer
- We have a long experience of what they want (and don’t want) to buy at any point in time
- We use our insights to speed up the process and outline the costs involved
- Our attention to detail is meticulous
We’ve been doing this for more than two decades, because we identified a need to bridge the gap between you (the vendor) and Costco’s buyers.
Costco has a very strong ethos of promoting from within, so we’ve known the buyers since they started their careers at Costco in entry level buying roles, and have now worked their way up into buyers and senior positions.
Whilst we retain our professional independence, and have no official connection to Costco, there is a benefit to what we bring in streamlining the process and only putting the best products in front of Costco, saving both parties time and money along the way.
‘Costco isn’t like other retailers and in the UK is classified as a wholesaler.
It’s a great company but it does things in its own way. At RCS we can get you to the right people by utilising the relationships we have.’

So how does it work?
Initially, we’ll have an introductory conversation.
If we believe your brand and products are a good fit for Costco, we’ll then arrange to visit one of their warehouses with you and explain how things work.
We then work with you to get your cost structure and presentation to where it needs to be, and help you to appreciate the specific requirements and needs of Costco.
‘At RCS our insights are based on multiple previous experiences rather than mere intuition. At every stage of the journey, we’ll be there, alongside you, ensuring that you follow the right path.’

Which stores and markets do we cover?
We service all 29 Costco warehouses in the UK by working with the Buying Team based in the Costco UK Head Office in Watford.
The buyers who are responsible for the warehouses in Iceland and Sweden are also based at the UK Head Office. Separate Buying Teams are set up for Costco Spain and Costco France and based in each of those countries.
So whether you have food or clothing, electronics or homeware, jewellery or cosmetics, we simply make Costco more accessible.
‘Whilst most of the vendors who come to us are from the UK and Europe, many US-based companies also seek our advice about expanding their reach into UK and European clubs.’
